Levittown Little League Legend William “Bumper” Jones to Lead Masons

Fairless Hills, PA -- Levittown Little League Legend William “Bumper” Jones was elected Worshipful Master of Fairless Hills Lodge No. 776 Free and Accepted Masons on December 18, 2007. Mr Jones, who was previously honored for his forty-five years of service to Levittown Little League by having the ball field on Mill Creek Parkway named “The William Bumper Jones Field,” has accepted the position of Worshipful Master of Fairless Hills Masonic Lodge and will put his leadership talents to work for the Lodge beginning on December 27, 2007.

Mr. Jones, known affectionately as ‘Bumper” to his friends and Masonic brothers, retired from Rohm & Haas after 38 years. He and his wife, Helene, have four children, five grandchildren, and one great grand daughter. Bumper has previously served as Senior Warden of Fairless Hills Masonic Lodge, Worthy Patron of LeFair Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and is currently serving as Worthy Patron of the Amy F. Schmidt Memorial Court of the Order of Amaranth.

Fairless Hills Lodge No. 776 F. & A.M. was constituted on September 25, 1954 and has been operating continuously since. Although Freemasonry is the world’s oldest and largest fraternity, it has gained extra notoriety recently due to the movies The Divinci Code, National Treasure and National Treasure II: The Book of Secrets. Most people have heard of Freemasonry but do not know the principles for which it stands or that many of our country’s founding fathers such as George Washington and Benjamin Franklin were prominent Freemasons.

Freemasonry is the oldest and largest fraternity dedicated to the Brotherhood of Man, the Fatherhood of God, and the Immortality of the Soul.  Freemasonry is a society of men concerned with moral and spiritual values.  Freemasonry teaches its precepts by a series of ritual dramas, which follow ancient forms, and use stonemasons' customs and tools as allegorical guides.

Freemasonry was defined in the 19th century as a system of morality, veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols.  It is a system, a path, or way of life that is impossible to describe by words alone.  It must be experienced, first hand, as an initiatory process as opposed to an intellectual study from afar.  The ancient customs, traditions and landmarks of Freemasonry, originally installed to preserve and protect the esoteric teachings contained within, are still followed today in some manner or fashion by every regular Grand Lodge in the world, including the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania to which Fairless Hills Masonic Lodge is affiliated. The stated meetings are held on the third Tuesdays of every month beginning at 7:30 p.m.. For more information or to request a petition for membership, please contact our Secretary, Bro. Ronald E. Meredith, PM.
